Leading Successful Change

This course explores how the dynamic between the individual, group and organisation influences behaviour in the workplace. Participants will engage with concepts and practicalities of organisational structure and culture as well as learn techniques for working with groups.

Essential Course Information:

Why this course?

Organisations are like icebergs: the visible part (e.g. organisational strategies, structures, policies and procedures) reveals one part of the story but the far greater impact of an organisation is caused by that which sits below the water line, namely the power structures, politics, culture and emotions that drive much of the behaviour within the organisation. While ignorance of these factors can cause much grief for those working in and with organisations, understanding and competence in this area can pay big dividends for both the internal and external management consultants.

Is this course for you?

This course is for you if you have progressed beyond foundation levels in consulting and your work now demands greater ability to understand and work within your client organisation(s).

What will it give you?

By the end of this course you should be better able to:

  • understand your client organisation(s) and thereby establish effective working relationships within them
  • diagnose organisational factors that both support and hinder the organisation in its desired performance
  • develop strategies for maximising involvement and commitment from key stakeholders
  • apply group tools and techniques within meetings and workshops to achieve higher quality levels of output and commitment

What is covered?

Over two days, the course covers:

  • What drives organisational performance? What are the factors that contribute to organisational performance? What role does power and politics play in your client organisation? When is an organisation ready for change?
  • Why do people behave as they do? What do we have in common – and how are we different? When should we try to control people – and when should we trust them? What is the best way for decisions to be taken in an organisation?
  • How can we get people to do the right things? How can we open people’s minds and increase the creativity of their thinking? How do I find and choose tools and techniques to use when working with groups? How can I make sure that my meetings and workshops are achieving the best possible outcomes?
