We engaged with key stakeholders and current leaders to gain a deep understanding of their organisation and future leaders’ skills requirements.

We identified four key areas for development:

Leadership learning journey

In collaboration with a board-level sponsor, we designed a learning journey that included:

  • Six in-person training sessions over twelve months
  • An individual internal project applying leadership skills to real-world challenges
  • A ten-day charity photo-journalism project to build empathy and storytelling skills
  • Monthly one-hour group sessions with the senior sponsor
  • Access to a range of leadership resources

To maximise learning outcomes we incorporated:

  • Experiential learning – hands-on practise through role-playing, simulations, and leadership labs
  • Coaching and mentoring – one-on-one coaching and peer mentoring to support development
  • On-the-job learning – application of skills in daily roles, with reflections on outcomes with a coach or peer group
  • Peer feedback and reflection – opportunities for peer feedback, reflective exercises, and group discussions

Our Impact

Initially, ten emerging leaders completed the leadership learning journey, achieving the following outcomes:
