Coaching skills for consultants

This programme is based on blended learning, combining a two-day course with practice in the work situation. It is intended that this course will meet the requirements of the Chartered Management Institute at level 5 in Management Coaching Practice.

Essential Course Information

Why this course?

Consultants in a project management role need to be able to coach those on their team, while all consultants may need to be able to coach members of the client’s staff from time to time.

Is this course for you?

This is for you if you are in a consulting role and want training that provides structure and techniques to your coaching activities.

What will it give you?

By the end of the course, you will:

  • understand the tools and techniques used in coaching practice
  • understand the need to develop relationships to support coaching practice
  • be able to develop coaching interventions to meet organisational requirements

What is covered?

The course is delivered in three parts:

  • A carefully structured programme of work that participants need to complete before attending the face to face course. This is intended to help them to fashion clear objectives for the course.
  • A two-day face to face training course. As well as input from the tutorial team, participants are expected to coach each other to develop their skills.
  • The application of the learning to coaching situations back at work after the course. Again this is structured and requires the completion of a log book.

How is this course delivered?

The course is delivered on an in-house basis only.
